Finding My Interests
For so long, I told myself I didn’t have interests in any hobbies or activities. I was so bored with the limited options I had living with my family. Without someone to give me options for different utensils and materials, I really thought I was limited to drawing and writing things from my own thoughts and ideas.
Inspiration can be strange. The books I wrote when I was young were fantasies that allowed me to escape. Now, I find inspiration in everyday life. Living day by day inspires me; focusing on what nurtures my mind and heart rather than only seeking pleasure. We often forget how much we need sleep and positive connections to maintain beneficial motivation and inspiration. Our surroundings greatly influence our lives, so it is important to be mindful of people and places that aren't good for us. We should aim for good connections without feeling the need to please others. I’ve realized that my inspiration and creativity drop in negative environments. The best approach is to steer clear of negativity, as trying to change others' perceptions won't help.
I had time one day and decided to start a project of small drawings and cute doodles. I get bored easily from a big project when it gets to the harder parts. Some work needs a lot of focus and concentration when it takes a lot from me mentally; especially if I don’t make a set time for it. With these small drawings, I found my time and progress went by quickly without repetition making me bored. I hope that in the future, my skills allow me to not copy doodles off of the internet, though it is totally okay to copy others work as long as you do not claim it as your own. This has allowed me to harness and work on my art skills without feeling like I have to pull the creativity out of no where. Whether it is small doodles or a medium to large art project, anything you create is valid and worth value.
